{Segue} One Week!

One week from tomorrow, I will become the Pretzel Lord–ahem–Mrs. Prezalor. I’m not even married yet, but I’ve already heard the nicknames on repeat–from my middle school students (I tell them that Charles is the “Pretzel Lord,” and I’m the “Pretzel Lady”) and from friends: “That sounds like ‘Praise the Lord!'” It seems like whatever my last name (Hatcher=Hatch or Hatchling), there are always nicknames readily available. That’s okay with me.

There are a lot of changes coming up, and next week will be exciting. First of all, Charles comes to NY tomorrow, and I am so thrilled to see him again. This time, we won’t have the shadow of a tearful goodbye cast over the sunshine of a blessed couple of weeks together. I’m ecstatic to be reunited with him tomorrow and know that it will last this time. On Monday, my best friend and Maid of Honor, Sarah, will arrive. It’s been two years since I’ve seen her in person (though Skype has sustained us from a distance), and I can’t wait to spend time with her again. Later in the week, the family and friends start rolling in, and I think it will be a real whirlwind of activity and celebration, joy and laughter.

At the Hatcher home, we’ve been working furiously on wedding preparations. I’ve done my part (and after finishing out the school year AND moving my entire household to a different city in Taiwan), it’s been an exhausting several months. Charles, my sisters, and my dad have helped A LOT too, and many other people have participated to make this a very special and meaningful season in my life. However, no one can compare to my Super Hero Mom. That woman truly is phenomenal, and this wedding would not be happening without her. Mom, if you read this, thank you for every little detail you’ve paid attention to and every moment you’ve worked hard hemming my dress, helping me make decisions, planning music, visiting venues, worrying about colors and centerpieces, making cakes, hosting family, and completing countless other tasks. I know we’re not there yet, but it’s going to be an amazing celebration, thanks to you.

I wish that I had more time and energy to write, but hey, we’re a week away from my wedding, so the neglected blog is understandable, right? I’d also love to show photos of the preparations, but I’ve decided to hold back because I want to unveil the event in one grand gesture next Saturday. I have been snapping photos along the way, and I have so many stories to share, so I hope to take time (someday) to document all of these special moments. For now, this short post will have to do. I didn’t want to go completely off the grid because of the wedding. I want you to know how excited I am and how much I am enjoying this season. I am also REALLY looking forward to the next season, the married-to-Charles one. =)

Please pray for all involved in the Hatcher/Prezalor wedding on June 29. God has been faithful so far, and I know that He will continue to amaze us.

  1. Christel, it was sooooo good to hear from you. I have been wondering when Charles was coming, if you guys had even been together yet, etc. You answered all my questions and I can sense the excitement building. As I have already said, I am so happy for the two of you and pray and amazing blessing of God’s love, grace and peace over all of you in these final days leading up to the big event. Can’t wait to see pictures. Love you…………..Mona
