I love my little Maltese dog named Emi. She has been a great companion over the past five years, and I can’t imagine life without her. Especially during my recent leave of absence from work, it’s been great to have her home with me during the daytime. I call her “my little white shadow” because she follows me everywhere.
Of course, over the summers when we travel to the U.S., Emi has to stay in Taiwan. This summer she’s staying with a very nice family with two kids in upper elementary/middle school. They are excited to keep Emi, and Charles and I are excited to have such a nice summer home for her.
Today, we took Emi to the groomer for her last hair cut before we hand her off for the summer. She was looking pretty pitiful before the cut; I was calling her “the Abominable Snow Dog” because she had so much bushy hair. Here’s a photo from a couple of weeks ago, but it just doesn’t do her furriness justice!
So far in Taichung, we have not had a lot of success at the groomer. I mean, sure, Emi gets a haircut, but it’s never been exactly what I want for her. Usually they cut it so short that she looks like a little pink rat (albeit a cute one). Exhibit A:
Or like the Luck Dragon from the classic oddity The NeverEnding Story. Exhibit B:
This time the groomer got it JUST right! Emi looks trim and neat, but she still looks like her little cute self. I took lots of pictures so that I can use them next time to show the groomers what I want. Okay, and also because I think Emi just looks so stinkin’ cute!
Definitely a cutie pie! Maltese are such great companions.
