It was a beautiful day on the Oneida Lake: cool weather, clear skies, radiant sun shining down on blue rolling waves. Mom, Dad, Charles, and I went fishing with a friend, Bill, from the church who has his own boat and fishing tackle and LOVES to fish and take people fishing.
We were on the water by 9:30 a.m., and we fished until about 1:30 p.m. Everyone was catching fish except me. Walleye, pickerel, and sun fish at every 3rd of 4th cast for everyone except Christel. =( I got a few bites, but never anything substantial. Finally, in the late midmorning, I caught my first pickerel, one big enough to keep and eat. I ended up catching two more during the rest of the day, but they were small, so we threw them back.
